Flexible or foldable smartphones have aroused a great deal of interest among mobile phone users. The problem, however, is that they are still too expensive for many. In addition, some are said to be quite fragile in folding and opening, but devices and technology are still improving, so most serious actors see this as a great opportunity and future.

In the first half of this year, the leading manufacturers of smartphones have or will prepare several products for users that will be of better quality and cheaper compared to current models. Apple, they are even considering the possibility of offering a personal computer with a folding screen.

Apple Device With Foldable Screen

Apple’s new computer is supposed to be a kind of hybrid between an iPad tablet and a MacBook laptop. The novelty is supposed to be equipped with a 20-inch or 50.8-centimeter folding screen. According to unofficial information, the novelty should have a dual-screen without a physical keyboard and touchpad.

With Apple’s new device, all navigation and typing will be done directly on the touch screen. This will be the same philosophy that Lenovo introduced some time ago with the ThinkPad X1 Fold computer. However, predictions about Apple’s foldable computer are still in their infancy, so it’s hard to say when and if we can expect it with certainty.

Apple Device With Foldable Screen

Apple device with foldable screen is expected to be on the market in late 2023, but we will see what is going to bring us 2023. In addition to the foldable “iPhone,” rumors suggest that Apple is exploring other foldable devices, including iPads and MacBooks with OLED foldable screens.

Foldable iPhone Prototypes

In December 2020, rumors from the Asian supply chain hinted that two of Apple’s foldable “iPhone” prototypes had passed internal endurance tests, but this is not in line with rumors that work is early and not. switched to a full device.

Apple is expected to test two different “iPhone” foldable models at the Foxconn factory in Shenzhen, China. One of these is said to be a dual-screen model with two separate hinged-connected screens, and the other is a foldable “iPhone” with a flip design similar to the Galaxy Z Flip.

The test devices have been described as shells with limited internals and iPhones not fully functional, but it is not yet clear whether this is a product that will hit the market.

Foldable Smartphone Issues

When Samsung introduced the Galaxy Fold, it was forced to postpone its debut after reviewers who provided them with one of the new devices discovered severe endurance issues, as the screens failed after just a few days of use.
Samsung solved that with some design fixes, making the Galaxy Fold more durable and more able to withstand multiple stacking.

Similar issues have been seen with the Galaxy Z Flip, there have also been complaints about screen quality (Galaxy Z Flip uses flexible glass), and at least one user has noticed problems with screen breaking in cold temperatures.

The Motorola RAZR also did not perform well, and one reviewer saw that the device’s screen cracked in the middle after only a week of use without a known trigger that would have caused a malfunction.

Given the high prices of foldable iPhones, their sensitive nature, and their propensity for failure, Apple may want to wait until the technology is more mature before deciding to launch its own foldable “iPhone”.
