With personal hotspot you can share your mobile data connection of your iPhone to some other device, or you can connect to some other device’s shared hotspot. It’s really helpful to know how to connect it, when you sometimes don’t have access to a Wi-Fi connection.
Personal Hotspot
- First, you have to make your personal hotspot sharable.
- Go to “Settings” and tap “Personal Hotspot”.
- There is a chance that the option “Personal Hotspot” is not on the list so you will have to tap “Cellular” to enable the feature.
If want to connect some of your personal devices that is signed into your iCloud account, your personal hotspot will be automatically available in your network list.
If you want to share your connection with some other devices, from friends and family, you have to tap the option “Allow Others to Join” Your personal hotspot on your iPhone has already a Wi-Fi password automatically, but you can change it anytime you want, so that it will be easier for you to remember and share it with others.
If you want to connect your iPhone or iPad, go and open “Settings” and then open “Wi-Fi”, and then in your search result you have to find the personal hotspot that you would like to connect to.
Then you would probably be asked to enter the personal hotspot password that is on the other device unless it’s disabled.
If you want to connect your Mac, click on the Wi-Fi icon on your Mac that is located on the menu bar in the top-right corner of your screen.
Then find and select your personal hotspot from the list you want to connect to. And again, if there is a personal hotspot password you will have to enter it, unless it’s disabled from the device you are connecting to.
Once you’re connected, you will notice that on the same menu bar the icon will change into a personal hotspot icon. Same will happen on your iPhone, iPad or any other device that you are connecting to.
There is an option that shows you how many devices are connected to your personal hotspot.
To find out that, open “Control Center” on your iPhone, then touch and hold the network settings card, then find the icon “Personal Hotspot”.
There it will be written how many devices are connected to your iPhone. If you tap on the icon you will turn off the sharing of your mobile data.
