Digital Identity Card is the feature. Some countries will soon offer a driver’s license and state identification in a digital wallet on smart devices.
Apple has announced that Arizona will be the first country where a driver’s license and digital identity card can be stored in a digital wallet. All that is required to digitize is for users to tap their iPhone or Apple Watch to securely “present” their identity at certain TSA security checkpoints at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
“We are thrilled to bring Arizona’s first driver’s license and ID ‘Wallet’ today and offer people in Arizona an easy, secure and private way to ‘show’ their ID while traveling by simply touching yours. iPhone or Apple Watch., ”said Jennifer Bailey, vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet.“ We look forward to working with many more countries and the TSA to offer wallet IDs to users in the US.

Some countries will soon offer a driver’s license and state identification in a digital wallet on smart devices. Colorado, Hawaii, Mississippi, Ohio, and the Puerto Rico Territory have plans to introduce this feature to their residents along with other states.
Adding a driver’s license or ID card to a digital wallet can be done in a few simple steps – residents can tap the + button at the top of the screen in the Wallet app on their iPhone, select “license or ID “and follow the on-screen instructions to begin the setup and verification process.
To ensure that the person adding the ID card to the digital wallet is the same person as the ID card, the user will be asked to take a photo of themselves and scan the front and back of the driver’s license or identity card. The system will securely forward the obtained data to the issuing country for verification.
Fraud prevention
As an additional step in fraud prevention, users will be prompted to perform a series of face and head movements during the setup process. The state is responsible for verifying and approving the user’s request to add a driver’s license or state ID to the digital wallet.
After successful digitization, users can present their driver’s license or national identification at the security checkpoints of the airport where this technology is enabled. They do this by simply tapping their iPhone or Apple Watch on the identity reader. On an iPhone or Apple Watch, users will be shown the information requested by the TSA.
All data is shared digitally, so users don’t have to show or hand over their device to present their ID. The system will also take a photo of the passenger for verification purposes.
