If you need more space on your iPhone or iPad, we have some different tips on how to do that.  There are two ways how to free up space on your iPhone or iPad. One way to do it is to manage it on your device with recommendations and another way is to do it manually.

The first way – “Freeing up space with recommendations “is an easy way to manage your storage on your iPhone or iPad without the necessity to check each app. First, you have to check how much storage you have. Here is how:

Open “Settings”, tap “General” and then tap “iPhone (or iPad) storage”. Here you can see how your device storage is being used and also you can see what is taking up the most space and what is taking up the less space. Depending on how your storage is being used, some recommendations may show up for freeing up space on your iPhone or iPad.

For example: reviewing large attachments in Messages or offloading unused apps. You can tap each recommendation and learn more about it. Some of the recommendations you see run automatically in the background like offloading unused apps. If you turn this on, apps you haven’t used in a while will be uninstalled from your device without your documents or data being removed. If you want some app back, your information will be there when you reinstall it.

The second way – “Freeing up space manually” can be done in many ways but first, let’s try the basic way.

First, we can start with Messages by tapping the app. If you tap “Review Large Attachments”, you will see the largest photos, videos, and attachments from your conversations on your iPhone or iPad.

You can see how much space different types of documents and files are taking up. If you want to delete attachments you don’t want to keep, just tap the document type, like for example “Photos” and then tap “Edit” and choose what you’d like to delete. Next, you’ll have to tap the trash icon, and then you are done.

One more way to free up space – to offload and delete apps manually, tap “Offload App” and then tap “Offload App” again to uninstall it.

If you need to make more room, you can also delete unused apps and remove larger files like videos, and then you will have room for new apps, photos, and more.
